In the village of Gera Konso region, EnDev is currently supporting the construction of a 140 kWp mini-grid along four other sites across the country. This solar mini-grid, co-funded by the European Union (EU), and implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Water and Energy, will electrify 870 households.

EnDev supports the development of a national plan for solar photovoltaic (PV) electronic waste (“e-waste”) management in Benin. To this end, EnDev implements pilot projects for collecting and recycling solar PV e-waste, thanks to EU co-financing. The aim is to effectively engage and reinforce the private sector to develop the PV e-waste value chain.

The topic of sound electronic waste (“e-waste”) management in solar energy access projects is complex and requires technical, legal, logistical and economic aspects to be dealt with. EnDev is a proud co-editor of a new publication, that aims to support planners, managers and service operators in over 20 EnDev countries and beyond.

A grantee under the Smart Communities Coalition Innovation Fund funded by USAID and implemented by EnDev, has successfully completed its pilot to provide safe drinking water in refugee settlements.

The African Biodigester Component (ABC), one of EnDev’s associated projects, commissioned a study showing that 82% of the domestic biodigesters installed in Kenya are functional. As the project wants to reach an ambitious quota of 90%, the study provides valuable insights and perspectives on the issue of functionality.

The 27th Conference of the Parties to the UNFCCC (COP27) was held in Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt, from November 6-20, 2022. Discussions focused on finding solutions to avoid exceeding the important 1.5 degree limit.

As one of the main sponsors, EnDev showed transformation and innovation at the Clean Cooking Forum 2022 in Accra, Ghana. In multiple sessions and a booth at the Innovation Expo, EnDev facilitated exchange to pave the way towards clean cooking for all.  

The Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking: Kenya and Senegal (EnDev/GCF) project is supporting ICS producers in upscaling their production to on the one hand achieve a sustainable long-term market growth of the sector. One of the ICS producers supported by the project is Wakeur Serigne Babacar Sy.

EnDev is announced as one of the key sponsors for the Clean Cooking Forum 2022. The conference will convene private sector actors and global leaders for paving the way to further achieving clean cooking for everyone.

In line with SDG 5, EnDev is striving towards gender-transformative impacts. Thus, EnDev is raising its ambition level in terms of gender to reach its goal of promoting gender equality and women’s self-empowerment.
