Tracking Policy

This site uses Matomo to analyse user behaviour. Cookies collect information about user behaviour on the site, including the abbreviated IP address of the device being used, and send it to the server. The server anonymises the information and stores it for the purpose of analysing user behaviour. The state of current technology ensures that once information has been anonymised, it can no longer be traced back to the originating device or connection. Information produced by cookies is shared only with the internally operated server. It is never shared or passed on to third parties. Data is processed on the basis of Article 6 (1 f) of the GDPR for the purpose of pursuing the controller’s legitimate interests, in this case to improve the website. You have the right to object to the processing of your user data for the purpose of user behaviour analysis.

If you do not want the data of your visit to be stored and analysed, you may opt-out at any time by clicking the checkbox below.

Cookies

This website uses cookies, i.e. small files containing short texts for technical processing. Without cookies – in other words, for example, when cookies have been deactivated in the browser – full use of this website is not possible.

Processing of personal data in connection with social network use

The website invites users to share content on the social networking sites and platforms Twitter, LinkedIn, and Facebook.

These platforms are operated in order to interact with the users that are active on these sites and platforms. By clicking on a social network’s logo, the user is redirected to the respective network.

When users visit the platforms, personal data is collected, used and stored by the operators of the respective social network, but not by GIZ. This is also the case even if the users themselves do not have an account with the respective social network.

The individual data processing operations and their scope differ depending on the operator of the respective social network. GIZ has no influence on the collection of data or its further use by the social network operators. We are not fully aware of the extent to which, where and for how long the data is stored; to what extent the networks comply with existing obligations regarding erasure; what analyses are conducted and links established with the data; and to whom the data is disclosed.

Recipients of personal data

  • Data are not passed on to third parties.
  • As a general principle, data will not be transmitted to third states.

Duration of data retention

Personal data are regularly deleted

  •     when the individuals concerned have not given any separate authorisation
  •     when statutory data storage obligations and periods have expired.

Reference to user rights

You are entitled to:

  •  to object to data processing,
  •  enquire about your personal data and its processing
  •  to have this corrected if necessary, or to request restriction of processing or the erasure of the data

The data will then be erased.

If you have any questions or complaints about this website, please contact the GIZ data protection officer (see contact information provided above). You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the responsible data protection supervisory authority. The responsible authority in this case is the German Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).
