EnDev’s Progress Report 2024: Record-Breaking Impact Energy Access

EnDev proudly presents its 2024 Progress Report, highlighting another year of exceptional achievements and forward-looking innovation. In 2024, EnDev set new milestones in sustainable energy access.
The programme raised the total number of individuals reached since 2005 to 33.9 million. This steady progress brings EnDev closer to its 2026 target of 37.4 million, with 91% of the goal already achieved.
In 2024, 10,610 micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) received new support, raising the total to 113,420; EnDev’s activities also led to the creation of 32,780 jobs. Additionally, 1,540 social institutions—such as schools and health centres—gained access to modern energy, bringing the total to 35,480. With a record 3.02 million tonnes of CO₂e emissions mitigated, EnDev continues to strengthen its role as a key driver of climate action through clean energy.

Strategic Focus Areas
In 2024, EnDev placed strong emphasis on Higher-Tier Cooking (HTC) solutions. Access to HTC grew significantly, with over 245,000 people benefiting from clean cooking technologies such as eCooking, biogas, and ethanol stoves. Cumulatively, more than one million people now have access to HTC solutions.
Another major pillar was the Leave No One Behind (LNOB) initiative. EnDev reached 976,900 vulnerable individuals since 2023, including people in extreme poverty, conflict-affected communities, and women-led households—tripling the LNOB outreach compared to 2023.
Partnerships and Innovation
EnDev advanced several key partnerships, including its leadership role in the Global electric Cooking Coalition (GeCCo) and its contributions to the Global eCooking Accelerator (GeCA). With 363,740 people reached via eCooking technologies and an additional 201,800 through associated projects, GeCA’s mid-term target was surpassed a year early.
Moreover, EnDev launched six new pilots through its Innovation Window and expanded work on carbon market mechanisms, supporting sustainable business models while unlocking new financing avenues.
Looking ahead
Our 2024 results reflect not only the strength of our partnerships and the innovation of our teams—but also what can be achieved through two decades of dedicated collaboration. For 20 years, EnDev has stood for inclusive, impactful, and sustainable energy access. EnDev is more than a programme—it has been a catalyst for change for two decades.
