Driving Africa’s Agri-Food Transformation: Join Us in Dakar!

From 31 August to 5 September, EnDev joins partners in Dakar, Senegal to advance renewable, regenerative, and resilient food systems. This week-long event will bring together youth leaders, innovators, and practitioners to collaborate on solutions that strengthen the continent’s agri-food sector.
Under the theme “Africa’s Youth: Leading Collaboration, Innovation, and Agri-Food Transformation”, participants will explore integrated approaches to sustainable agriculture, nutrition, and energy. With interactive workshops, real-world case studies, and inspiring voices, the programme demonstrates how decentralized energy access is the missing link to building resilient, productive, and sustainable agri-food systems in Africa.
EnDev, together with partners, such as GOGLA, SNV, REEEP, GAIN, Wageningen University & Research (WUR) and the International Water Management Institute (CGIAR), is co-organising the following three sessions to showcase how energy access can power sustainable food systems:
Knowledge Hub | 4 Sept, 12:00–13:00 GMT – Oval Room, CICAD & Diamniadio Expo Center, Dakar
Powering Africa’s Food and Nutrition Goals
Agriculture accounts for 30% of global energy use, yet many smallholder farmers in sub-Saharan Africa lack access to reliable power. This session explores how off-grid solar solutions—from irrigation and refrigeration to agro-processing—can reshape food systems, boost incomes, and support women and youth in farming communities.
Special Roundtable | 4 Sept, 14:00–16:00 GMT – AGRA Board Room
Agri-Energy in Focus: Aligning for Greater Impact
Scaling DRE solutions is vital for sustainable agri-food systems. This by-invitation roundtable, convened by GOGLA, brings together the Agri-Energy Coalition and cross-sector leaders to exchange lessons, identify synergies, and align on a joint roadmap to amplify impact at the nexus of energy, agriculture, and nutrition.
September 4 | 16:30 – 18:30 GMT – Thematic Hall
The Nexus Game: Powering Food, Climate & Equity Trade-offs in Real-Time
This interactive session will dive into integrated approaches for improving energy access across water, irrigation, and food systems, showcasing innovative solutions and the power of collaborative action.
