Call for Expressions of Interests: Local Stove Production Enterprises in Kenya (Window II)

Background

The project “Promotion of Climate-Friendly Cooking: Kenya and Senegal” (GCF/EnDev), implemented by EnDev, commenced in March 2020 and will run until December 2024. The initiative targets to build the capacity and professionalise local stove production enterprises with regards to improving stove production processes for stoves and stove components (e.g. ceramic liners) including fabrication and assembly processes. The support shall comprise provision of hardware (e.g. machines, tools, equipment & basic infrastructure) and related technical assistance. In addition, business development support services shall be provided to eligible enterprises.

Target groups

The professionalisation is targeting Kenyan stove production enterprises in the informal sector (Jua Kali sector), cottage industry (home-based production) and micro and small-scale stove production enterprises, which produce improved biomass stoves (Improved Cookstoves) for firewood and charcoal. These could be individuals, groups, sole proprietors, partnerships, and companies.

Call for EoIs (Window 2)

EnDev is calling for EoIs from stove production enterprises to formally apply to participate in the professionalisation process. In order to express interest, and is first inviting interested eligible enterprises to register and participate in regional sensitisation workshops. An orientation on the professionalization approach, application process, eligibility& selection criteria and submission timelines will be done in the workshops.

Registration for the regional workshops

The registration process for the workshops will be on rolling basis starting from January to April 2022. To express interest in participating in these workshops, send an email to: info-energyke@giz.de or call 0800721079, toll free number (Monday – Friday: between 8am to 5pm), sharing the following details: contact details (names, phone number); county, enterprise name; and types of stoves produced. Note that you will be required to provide consent for sharing your personal details for registration purposes.

These workshops are scheduled for January to April 2022 for only those who will register. Specific dates and venues to be communicated to those who register subject and in compliance to Government Covid-19 pandemic containment measures.

IMPORTANT: Do not register if you participated in the call for EOI window 1

Only those who participate in the workshops shall be eligible to respond to the EOI. Window 2 registration and workshops will officially close in April 2022.
