Barclays Bank of Kenya Limited (BBK) is implementing a Results Based Financing (RBF) project that will provide financial incentives (grants) to private project developers to invest in solar PV hybrid mini-grids in Marsabit County, Kenya.

The aim of the RBF project is to assist in market creation for private sector operated mini-grids in Kenya. The disbursement of the incentives to private project developers will be done after delivery and verification of pre-agreed objectives and results

BBK and EnDev are calling for proposals from interested private firms already active in the electricity generation, distribution or supply services. The interested firms will develop solar PV hybrid mini-grids in five village centres in Marsabit County i.e. Dukana, Illeret, Dabel, Diridima and Ngurunit bundled in 2 lots. Upon selection, successful developers will finance, build, own and operate the mini-grids in these villages. Upon achieving the pre-agreed milestones with BBK, the successful developers will be partially compensated with the RBF incentives.
